Her brother William in his will left his son Benajmin money to pursue the same 2 estates in VA. Their brother John died many years early and in his will he left all his estate to his wife presumably they had no children. If is likely the Hohn's wife died with no defined heirs and Maey and William seek what is in the estate which came orginally from their father Matthew to their brother John. She is likely the Mary J Rice in Garrard Co tax list 1800-1802

Many trees have this fammily group incorrect. There are 2 Thomas Rices in the county - one son of Francis Rice (Y-DNA shows Francis is not part of the Thomas & Marcy family group) and one a son of Matthew Rice. All the following records from Prince Edward Co clarify which of the two Thomas Rices is Matthew's son. Each married in this period. Matthew's Thomas' wife is Nancy Drake Taylor - not Susanna Bigger.Thomas and Zachariah bought land together Land Book 11 page 378 (1799). Thomas and wife Nancy and Zachariah and wife Elizabeth sold the land togethe Land Book 14 page 638 (1811), Thomas' will in Will Book 7 page 485 leaves his entire estate to wife Nancy. Many of the children are underage. Nnacy's will in Will Bool 11 page107 names the children including the daughter's married names. In the county Personal Tax records Thomas and his 2 oldest sons are all listed together as the sons come of age. Powhatan records show Nancy's parents etc. Thomas and Nancy of Prince Edward sold land in Powhattan Land Book 4 page 507 that came from Nancy's father. Nancy's mother leaves a will and there is a circuit court case involving the care of Nancy's sister's children by Thomas.
The 2 oldest sons were tobacco inspectors. Edward T was a builder and James a constble.
